back in DK

purposefully took it easy last few days while back in Ireland as legs were feeling tired and dead... managed an 11 mile in 90 minutes - which is an OK time...

ran to work this morning, can feel the weather starting to get chillier... and the mornings are slightly darker... hmmmm

Lakes in the rain

Ran home via a lap of the lakes last night in rain... Pres from work ran with me for the first time - pretty quick so was good run, about 11k in total.

Have managed over 50k so far this week... but have struggled to make any impression (read, run fast) any mornings... think my legs are just a bit tired...

Off to Ireland this w.e. - will do run at home over an old course I ran last year, then relax for a few days!

30k...

30k on my own Saturday morning in 2:49:04 compared to my NY marathon time of 4:48 its good progress. Also makes me believe I can get under 4 hours, probably not in Medoc, but hopefully in Dublin come October!

Aside from that run, only managed 4x5k runs last week... this morning pushed for a new pb but was well off the pace heading into the last kilometre... tomorrow I try again!

rest and respite...

All last week was struggling with what can only have been a pulled muscle in my lower stomach... very painful every time I ran and showed no sign of getting better! After thursday morning's run decided to rest until Sunday morning - when myself and Ole went for a run. Running with Ole is tough, he has run a 3:07 marathon - and despite smoking and not been fully fit at the moment, he still runs bloody fast! By time we had done one lap of the graveyard near his house (very old tombs, very large and deserted place - ideal for running) my body was screaming for a reason to stop... running down the hill by the Carlsberg factory it got what it wanted and my stomach started to cramp up... from there on in I lost the willpower to fight it, and only and hour after we set out we were back at Ole's place having cried off....

So having rested up yesterday, last night I decided to get a new pb on the run to work this morning. 21:14 - 1:40 off previous best! PROGRESS!!!

evening run

this sttitch or stomach cramp really starting to get to me... annoying as have no clue whats causing it... but almost from the word go on run home I was bent over dobule from the pain! perhaps I've pulled a stomach muscle / who knows but hopefully it goes sooner rather than later...

the stitch strikes back...

worst run to work yet... bent over like a seventy year old grandmother weighed down by shopping bags, clutching her stomach and swaying from side to side... forgot my pass to work, and the security guard told me to climb in the window of the locker room... hmmmmm glamourous sport this running

weekend run

Well strange run, went with Ole for about 2 hours on a new route... very hot, and decent pace - we both ended up banjaxed and having to walk for a bit... not good!

The week has been worst in a while... not sure on exact distance ran, but something in region of 45k... also no watch is annoying for the mornings... but at least not injured and enjoyed today's run with Ole (short term memory kicking in perhaps???)

The coming week want to step it up a notch. have 35 days to Marathon du Medoc. Four more weekend runs... so hopefullly get a couple of 30k runs on board and work on speed in the mornings... just do it (ahem).

weekend run

managed 20k last night - annoyingly my watch has died, so need to get a new battery (or new watch!) but felt very compfortable - and finished strong in atrocious rainstorm!
on the week managed on 65k - but got 2 longer runs in, and feeling very good!

got the marathon du medoc information in the post... looks fab, list of 59 chateaux to run through and seems like great fun as most people seem to wear fancy dress!
